The magnitude 7 earthquake violently shook a large part of Turkey (and neighboring Syria), with the number of victims increasing day by day. It is one of the deadliest earthquakes since Fukushima in 2011 with a death toll estimated at more than 28, according to Le Monde. The toll could well double in the days and weeks to come, leaving many people homeless.
As we saw with the war in Ukraine, the crypto community has mobilized once again to make donations in cryptocurrencies. Among the largest donors, we find Binance which contributed 5 million dollars as well as the foundation Avalanche, which donated more than a million dollars to earthquake victims. Justin Sun, the founder of the network TRON, Justin Sun, also donated one million TRX tokens worth approximately $60.
Many crypto companies have also set up a donation space so that customers can participate in the various collections in a simple way. This is becoming a "habit" for many sites that demonstrate their solidarity during certain humanitarian crises and facilitate access to cryptocurrency donations.
Crypto donations are still growing
To help earthquake victims, many associations allow crypto donations to be made. The best known association is the Turkish Ahbap association, a non-profit organization, which has set up several wallets on different networks for members who wish to help.
To date, over $4 million has been raised from the international crypto community.
❤️ If you also wish to participate in the donation for Turkey (or for other associations), we recommend that you carefully check the organization in charge. Unfortunately, we are not immune to scams. To support the victims of the Turkish earthquake, the Abhap association is recommended.

Why are crypto donations always more appreciated?
This is for several reasons, including the speed of the procedure, the absence of identity verification and the possibility of sending funds without geographical restrictions.
Thus, both for those who make donations and for those who receive them, the use of cryptocurrencies proves to be very practical. Here are the main reasons for
A faster procedure
You simply need to have the donation address to send. There is no email registration procedure or identity verification. There is no need to register for a site, as is done in the traditional version (for example on HelloAsso). So, even if it is not complicated in itself to register on a site, the simple act of reducing intermediate actions makes crypto donations much faster.
On the side of the association which receives the funds, it then has the funds received almost instantly in its wallets. This is again a huge advantage when a crisis situation like the one Turkey is currently facing occurs.
No geographic restrictions
In the same way that cryptocurrencies are increasingly used to make international payments, particularly due to lower remittance costs, donations in cryptocurrencies are also simpler and cheaper.
Thus, everyone from all over the world can send funds, which is not always easy when you have to go through associations that only accept fiat currencies such as euros or dollars. With crypto donations, all people on all continents can donate.
These main characteristics mentioned above clearly make cryptocurrencies the ideal way to transfer donations in case of emergency.
It is not unlikely that many associations and entities in the humanitarian field are opting for cryptocurrencies to facilitate donations.
