It was also the turn of the internationally renowned economic magazine to get involved; Fortune magazine.
With a name like that, it’s hard not to make a fortune with NFTs, indeed.
For their first NFT sale, Fortune sold a limited-edition set of NFTs featuring the cover of their August/September 2021 issue (which focused on cryptocurrencies). The cover was created by the artist ppleasr1, who is already very active on Twitter. The sale lasted only a few minutes before reaching record prices.
The auction raised 429 ETH, equivalent to $1,3 million today. The NFTs were listed on the OpenSea marketplace. This price is actually quite low compared to other projects like ApeBored or CryptoPunks.
Robet Hacket, the editor-in-chief of Fortune, said that 50% of the profits from the sale would be donated to organizations and the rest would be kept safe.
Fortune is not the first magazine to have sold NFTs of its magazine covers. Magazines like New York Times even started the trend.
One day perhaps we, on Zonebitcoin, will sell our first articles as NFTs for thousands of euros.
