So, this isn't really the first time we've heard of a crypto smartphone. Regularly, there have been announcements of this kind with prototype phones. The idea is therefore not very recent.
However, it appears this is the first time we've gotten close to anything other than a prototype. There, SolanaMobile is intended to be much more “pragmatic”. The smartphone was present during a event in New York and wants to be a real functional product. You can see the product presentation here.
SolanaMobile has joined forces with THE SOUND to create a new kind of phone specifically designed for cryptos.
The developers wanted to combine decentralized crypto wallets and make them more functional on smartphones. It is therefore all the use of Web3 which would be made easier.
At the moment, it is still too early to form an opinion on the matter. We can also wonder about the future of crypto applications present on Android and AppleStore, for example. In all, this will certainly democratize the use of cryptos on the one hand. On the other hand, this will also make dApps more accessible to as many people as possible.
In short, technology advances, again and again.
We couldn't help but place a pre-order. For those interested, here's how to do it:
How to pre-order a Saga smartphone?
Please note that deliveries will only be made to the USA, Canada, UK and Europe. So if you are in France, Belgium or Switzerland, you can place the pre-order.
You must go to the official pre-order page here.
The delivery date is estimated in the first half of 2023.
👋 You will need to make a deposit of 100 USDC to be able to be registered on the whitelist.
The $100 deposit is refundable. It is only used to register you for the waiting list. You will be notified by email when you can finalize the order. We do not know the final price of the smartphone. (We can think that the smartphone will cost a certain price, in our opinion).
Make the $100 deposit from your wallet
The deposit will only be made via the Solana network, obviously. You will therefore need to have a compatible wallet. We recommend that you use the Phantom wallet.
Then, once installed, of course, you will need to send USDC to your wallet. You can do this in several ways.
- You can send them from an exchange platform like Binance (by selecting the network carefully SOLANA). It's the simplest and fastest.
- You can also use “bridges” to send USDC from your ETH wallet for example. For bridges, you have several like Allbridges for example.
(Note: If you are new to DeFi and using wallets seems “difficult”, we have a ultimate DeFi guide tutorial video to help you).
💪 Once it's done, all you have to do is enter your email address and that's it! You are on the waiting list now.
Please feel free to share this article if you think people might be interested. This may be particularly interesting for blockchain developers who want to participate in this project. They can also obtain a saga phone and special pass.
