This is exactly what a solo miner experienced on November 21, 2025, when he managed to mine block number 924,569 of the Bitcoin network, pocketing 3.146 BTC, or about $265,000 at the current price. 

And he's not the only lucky one this year. The year 2025 will have been marked by a series of "statistical miracles": more than five solo miners achieved the improbable feat of finding a block entirely on their own, each winning rewards ranging from $200,000 to over $300,000.

In a network dominated by mega mining farms and industrial pools, these individual successes are flashes of brilliance in the night, rare certainly but spectacular.

In July, another miner found block 903883, earning approximately $349,000 with only 2,3 PH/s of computing power."
Other blocks (including 907283, the 910440(913632) were discovered by individuals working via mining platforms such as Solo CKPoolThe platform provides the necessary infrastructure for independent miners to connect directly to the Bitcoin network. They can then receive the full reward if they find a block on their own.

Each time, the same scenario: an isolated miner, with little power compared to the giants, hits the jackpot and captures the entire reward.

These stories are rare, certainly, but they are enough to nourish an entire mythology: that of the David mining which, from time to time, manages to hit the block before the Goliath industrial.

Do we really have a chance of winning?

You probably want to dream, just like us, but let's be honest: the probability is infinitesimal. But infinitesimal doesn't mean nonexistent. That's the subtle point.

In practice, even a small ASIC machine can theoretically find a block. According to SoloSatoshi, a shop that sells minor solos, the lucky November miner might have used a " Bitaxe Gamma"

Indeed, a Bitaxe Gamma allows speeds of up to 1,2 TH/s. The higher-end version, namely a NerdQaxe++ allows reaching 6 TH/s.

That's the very nature of Proof-of-Work: every hash, even a tiny one, is a ticket in Bitcoin's cosmic lottery. It really is a matter of chance.

In fact, you have to understand the scale. With a modern ASIC, you can contribute a few hundred TH/s. The entire network, however, is now expressed in exahashes, which are billions of times larger.

Finding a block with a single machine is like winning the lottery… except some players win several times a year. It's not impossible: it's just statistically unreasonable.

It is precisely this contrast between improbable et made which makes these stories so fascinating.

Which machines offer hope for a block?

By 2025, solo mining with a small GPU or an old ASIC is pointless: you'll never find a block that way. To have even the slightest chance, you need at least recent, high-performance hardware such as:
