Here are 4 crypto browsers you can use right now!

4 December 2022

To better define what a Web3 browser is, it is essential to remember, first of all, what a Web browser is. In simple terms, a web browser is defined as a primarily free software that allows you to view Internet pages.

Since its launch in 1991, with technological evolution, the World Wide Web is now in its third version; THE Web3. To take advantage of this new technology, the web browser that allows users to connect to Web3 is called Web3 browser. For many of us, these concepts are confusing.

This article aims to explain to you as simply as possible what the web3 browser is, how does it work? We will also see the other concepts surrounding it.

What is Web3?

Web3 is the third version of the evolution of the Web. Indeed, over time, the Web has had three versions. The concept of Web3 is relatively recent and refers to the vision of a decentralized Web. Each iteration of the Web has a specific meaning.

The first iteration, Web1, focused on static content (in Web 1.0, users only receive information without being able to modify or comment on it). Web2 introduced dynamic content and social media features (Web 2.0 encourages participation, collaboration and information sharing. Youtube, Facebook, etc. are examples of Web 2.0 applications).

With Web3, the world of the Web goes even further. Moreover, this goes even further than the creation of decentralized social networks. Indeed, with Web3, users have the ability to control their own data.

Thanks to Web3, people can better process the information they create or have available to them, autonomously and intelligently. Added to Web3 is BigData technology. Web3 is a technology that allows users to process data faster, and above all technically optimized. Several games attempt to combine different innovative technologies, namely metaverse and Web3. To surf there, users use a Web3 browser.

What are the advantages of Web3?

Web3 browsers are software that help users interact with decentralized applications (Dapps) based on Web3 technologies. Like the distributed ledgers, artificial intelligence, Metaverse and others that aim to create the Internet of the future accessible to everyone. The advantages of using a web3 browser are:

  1. Reinforced transparency and security,
  2. Faster browsing performance,
  3. Complete user anonymity and confidentiality,
  4. Integrate cryptocurrency wallets with multiple blockchains.
  5. Full control over content thanks to decentralization.

What are Web3 browsers actually used for:

Web3 browsers allow users to use the standard features of the browsers you know (and probably use right now). They are essentially decentralized applications that allow users to retain ownership of their data and share their revenue.

Although Chrome, Firebox, and safari are Web2 browsers, users can use them to access Web3 applications using a Web3 wallet like Dappradar.

Web3 wallets can also be integrated into traditional web browsers, providing functionality DApp browser by enabling flexible access to decentralized applications without the help of other intermediaries while retaining full ownership of their assets. Additionally, crypto assets can be stored and managed efficiently using Web3 wallets. However, if you lose your seed phrase, you can also lose funds, unlike centralized custodial wallets.

Here are some examples of Web 3 browsers

To be able to use the Opera Web3 browser, it is necessary to download the browser first Opera Crypto for Android, Windows or Mac. Then, if you already have a wallet, you can use it or create an Opera wallet in order to use the features mentioned above. Some examples of Web3 browsers:

1/ The Brave Web3 Browser

brave navigator

The Brave browser is open source software that offers privacy features as well as a free business model. It enhances users' browser super app with free video calls, fully standalone search, offline playlists, and even a personalized news feed. Brave browser, by default, prohibits obscene trackers and advertisements on all websites visited by users. Plus, the all-new gallery feature non-fungible tokens (NFT) from Brave offers users a simplified interface for viewing and managing NFT collections.

As with the first browser, by watching advertisements one can earn passive income by Basic Attention Tokens (BAT). Another notable feature of the Brave Web3 browser is the incorporation of IPFS functionality, which allows for built-in decentralized file storage (see Siacoin, Filecoin, etc) and reduces data concentration by distributing file storage across a global network.

2/ Puma Web3 browser

Puma Browser is the creation of Ukrainian-Canadian developer Yuriy Dybskiy founded in January 2019. This browser provides access to domains Ethereum Name Service (ENS) and handshake (HNS) and InterPlanetaryFileSystem (IPFS), as well as transparent payments for content creators, app and game developers via Coil. Using the Puma Browser, web monetization works as follows:

  1. A monthly fee of $5 is paid by Coil members to access user-created content.
  2. Interested users create a digital wallet and earn money from their content. Every hour a Coil member spends watching user content earns them $0,36 worth of Coil.

When the members of Coil users enjoy the content, Coil transfers funds to their wallets.

Note: At the moment, the Puma browser is only available for smartphones.

3/ The Beaker browser

Le Beaker browser, for its part, allows the hosting of peer-to-peer websites, called Hyperdrives, in private mode. Only those who have the link to a Hyperdrive can access the website once it is created. To create hostless applications, the Beaker browser offers new APIs (application programming interface) while remaining compatible with the rest of the Web.

Beaker displays the complete site structure in a typical format GitHub, unlike most browsers which display the page source code to website visitors. Better yet, the user can host their own fork of the website. (Read the article on accommodation that can be paid for in

4/ Osiris Browser

Osiris is in fact the first neutral net browser in the world. He wants to free users from commercialism, the chains of censorship and the prejudices that have crept into the Internet. Osiris is a blockchain-based browser that, by default, bans all ads and trackers and bluntly states that it is self-sustaining without ad money.

With Osiris Armor, users can configure privacy settings and view the number of ads and scripts that have already been banned. Additionally, it offers a multi-wallet called Metawallet which integrates an in-browser wallet and supports multiple cryptocurrencies to improve the Web3 experience for blockchain users.

Conclusion on Web3 Browsers

For internet users, it is undeniable that the Web3 offers multiple opportunities. The new “version” of the web offers web monetization opportunities for developers, gamers and content creators.

This is a capability that web platforms have long lacked since the advent of the internet. Indeed, web monetization offers an efficient, free, native and automatic way to pay creators and finance web infrastructure. Although there are still many unexplored areas of Web3 (Semantic Web), it is clear that Web3 technologies are becoming an ever-increasing force in the Web landscape.

There is reason to hope that crypto browsers will continue to offer distinct services to meet the needs of blockchain users. What is certain is that we already have one foot in the future...
