The Ukrainian government has announced its intention to launch a collection of non-fungible tokens. The theme of the collection would be that of war. It is specified that it would be a museum on the theme of war, in general.
We do not know if this will be an NFT Ukraine, a collection of NFTs or even a collection within a virtual museum as well….
This decision, like that of sending NFTs to donors (an airdrop which was ultimately aborted some time after the announcement), is intended to be a way of recovering donations.
Digital assets, such as ETH or BTC donations, have been a success. We saw there to what extent cryptocurrencies can be used in a state of emergency.
Cryptocurrencies as an effective tool
We have also seen that cryptocurrencies are particularly suited to the donation system. Whether to support people in difficulty or to support wars (there, another question may arise...The subject of another debate), donations in cryptos are practical.
Associations and charities will certainly be able to see this as a tremendous opportunity to raise more funds and in a simpler way.
This also has the advantage of softening the image of cryptocurrencies. With donations to support the Ukrainian people, the general public also understands that cryptos are not "linked" to crime and drug sales on SilkRoad….
The image of cryptos benefited indirectly… Just like the said beneficiaries (who we hope will be able to take full advantage of it).
Crypto donations reached over $54 million (in BTC)
It was the Ukrainian Deputy Minister for Digital Transformation who decided to create the digital museum. Alex Bornyakov would like to first create a collection of NFTs which would be historical and educational.
Indeed, each NFT will reflect a part of the history of the (Russian?) war and the information contained in the NFT will be from a “reliable source” according to the Ukrainian minister.
According to Alex, each NFT will be obtained from reports written by reliable news outlets regarding the war. These Ukraine NFTs will contain unique artworks from these selected stories, obtained from “trusted sources”.
It should be remembered that in January 2021, the kyiv museum had already opened some of its pieces to sales in the form of NFT.
Currently, there is already a team working on the project.
The idea of the NFT digital museum is a first in history. After the sale in NFT of Gustave Klimt's masterpiece, we are certainly witnessing a new paradigm in the history of art.
