web3 will change our lives

Here's why web 3 can change our lives...for the better

February 7st, 2022

The title may seem catchy to you.

I know.

Except that honestly, and for once, the title is not enough.

Blockchain can completely disrupt the redistribution of wealth and rebalance the financial allocations currently shared by large investment funds…

How, you ask?

By what we call web3.

When we talk about crypto, we are necessarily talking about web 3.0 or 3rd generation if you prefer. In fact, the use of cryptocurrencies has greatly influenced this new web update.

Simple summary of the web versions we have seen:

The web1 which dates from the beginning (approximately in 1990) until 2005. There, the web mainly concerned open and decentralized protocols. This may seem surprising but it is the case because the computer scientists all worked together to improve and create new features.

It was with the appearance of Web2 from 2005 and until 2020 that we saw a web with extremely centralized and compartmentalized services. Each company sought to exert its empire on the internet. This marked the triumph of GAFA, particularly with Google, Amazon and Facebook.

Internet behemoths that have staggering percentages of global Internet users. Billions of users every day using their (centralized) services. We don't say it often but we are surrounded by real monopolies...90% of Internet users use Google as a search engine in the USA (this would be understandable) but also in Europe! A shame! In fact, only Asia and Russia managed to prevent global monopoly!

The GAFAM live up to their giant names... It even seems like a euphemism when we realize the extent of their power and their immersion in our private lives...

They have all our personal data (it took a long time before laws were put in place to regulate). They set up business model extremely lucrative where advertising is housed in first place. Whatever the user does, their behavior is transcribed as consumption code. One more data to make retargeting work…

We know where you are, what time you are there, what you want to buy, what you need here and now... In short, we are not going to recall here the all-powerful gaze of Big Brother and his repressive nature...

That's not the worst part...You'll find out in the next paragraph...

Now we are at the beginning of the web3 era with decentralization as the horizon. We return to the first vision of the internet. And, we can thank blockchain technology and say thank you to Satoshi Nakamoto.

Why is web3 (so) important?

What poses the most problem with centralized services (web2.0) is certainly their possibility of omnipotence. The more users they gain, the more powerful (and richer) they become.

This omnipresence prevents innovation. Why don't you try to create a new social network? You don't stand a chance with a behemoth like Facebook in front of you. Even if your service is better. As they say in English, "to big to fail".

The GAFAMs are too big to fall…

And, if you think about the success of TikTok, remember that it was only possible because it came from Asia. A market where Facebook (despite its numerous attempts) has failed to be integrated.

It is in this context that web 3 is interesting. For what?

There would be several reasons which explain its interest but we can simply be satisfied with the ownership of the users of the service.

Yes, in web 3, developers, entrepreneurs and users are located on the same scale in terms of ownership of the service. Each user can own tokens (fungible or not) of the service they use.

We are diametrically opposed to the service on Facebook, for example. A user on Facebook owns nothing and even worse, he uses the service and "fattens" Facebook shareholders every time he likes a photo or clicks on an ad.

It is therefore this important point that Web3 reverses.

(The problems of censorship and private freedom are of course also resolved).

One-way remuneration, are we talking about it?

On web3, users have property rights through their tokens. They own part of the service. When the service is paid for, everyone wins.

This is perhaps the most difficult thing to make understood to a person new to or unfamiliar with cryptocurrencies and blockchain. Imagining a service where everyone is a winner can seem like a deception, as we are not used to win-win situations.

However, the reality of web3 is there. The ethical strength of blockchain is there. Bitcoin or Ethereum does not belong to anyone other than the users and holders of ETH.

The creator of ethereum has no more power than you, in absolute terms, over the network. Everyone is on the same page.

Do you see the genius of blockchain now?

Yes, and that's why we're fighting to make cryptocurrencies known. It's not just us or them who win...It's you too.

Do not forget it.
